Michael Jordan is widely viewed as the greatest player of all time, and there’s no doubt that he was a truly transcendent player. Going undefeated in the Finals and achieving two three-peats is absolutely unheard of, and Bill Russell is the only superstar that won more championships than Michael Jordan.
Despite what he accomplished in the game, Michael Jordan haters. Previously, Nick Wright put Michael Jordan No. 3 on a top 50 players of the last 50 years list, an act that caused a lot of controversy among fans.
Kyle Kuzma has recently roasted Nick Wright for putting Michael Jordan at No. 3, pointing out that this is “the first list in mankind” where Michael Jordan is ranked as the third greatest player ever.
Obviously, there are other players who have GOAT cases such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James. However, most people would agree that there is no player that had the peak that Michael Jordan had, and what stands out about Jordan is him absolutely dominating his era. In his prime, there was no superstar that managed to beat him except Shaquille O’Neal in 1995, and that was when Jordan was just returning to playing basketball. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal are also the only superstars that have managed to three-peat after Jordan, and they only did it once.
It remains to be seen if Nick Wright ends up changing Michael Jordan’s position on the list in the future. Perhaps ranking him No. 2 can be reasonable if one truly believes in LeBron James or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s GOAT cases, but No. 3 seems quite low for a player that absolutely changed basketball for an era.
With that being said, Nick Wright’s opinion is not what the majority of people think. Most fans agree that Michael Jordan is the GOAT of basketball, and there’s no doubt that it will be quite difficult for anyone to surpass him.
