The Miami Hurricanes hosted an impressive list of recruits for the inaugural cookout under new head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff. Several commits and prospects were in Coral Gables this weekend to meet with the Miami staff, see the Hurricanes’ facilities and connect with other recruits.
Miami currently has the ninth-ranked recruiting class nationally according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa is the highest-rated Miami commit and the sole five-star player in the Hurricanes 2023 class. Mauigoa has reportedly been one of the best recruiters in the 2023 Miami class.
Several recruits and in one case the mother of one of the prospects were impressed by what Miami had to offer this weekend. Keri Jackson is the mother of 247 Sports three-star 2024 defensive lineman Kendall Jackson and a Florida fan via her Twitter account and she stated “Miami did not disappoint”
Keri was reiterating what her son initially stated. Miami has commitments for 2024 from four-star safety Antoine Jackson and kicker Abram Murray who announced his commitment to the Hurricanes on Sunday. Antoine and Kendall Jackson and Murray were two out of about 20 2024 prospects at the Miami cookout.
Jaylen Bell, a 2025 prospect who has taken visits to Alabama, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Tennessee according to On3 Tweeted that he had an extraordinary visit with the Miami Hurricanes this weekend at the cookout. Bell is too early in the recruiting process to have received a ranking.
Miami had 10 of their 16 2023 commits in Coral Gables for the cookout. That strong showing should have helped the commits in the 2023 class help recruit potential future teammates. Miami hosted between 60 and 64 recruits this weekend. Mario Cristobal and his staff are continuing to make an impact with recruiting.
