Syracuse, NY — Syracuse football has now secured six commitments from players who’ve made official visits this summer.
Three-star running back Ike Daniels announced his verbal commitment Friday, becoming the latest player to join the Orange’s 2023 recruiting class.
Daniels attends Mountain View High School in Stafford, Virginia. He announced his final two schools on July 13 — Syracuse and Hawaii.
Daniels made visits to both schools prior to his decision. He made a trip to Hawaii in April before even receiving his offer from Syracuse. He then visited SU on June 24 alongside other Orange commits LaNorris Sellers, Rashard Perry and others.
“First I would like to thank God for giving me the ability and blessing me to play the game I love,” Daniels wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. “I would like to thank ALL my coaches that have been apart of my football career and helping me to become the student athlete I am today.”
Daniels is 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds. He also had offers from Virginia Tech, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Wake Forest, among others. He is the No. 17 prospect in Virginia and No. 44 running back in the country.
Earlier this week, the Orange added 3-star offensive lineman Jayden Bass. The Springfield, Massachusetts resident received his offer from SU in June following an individual workout with the team.
Syracuse now has nine players verbally committed to its 2023 class. Six of those are from New York or a bordering state.
