43 Days Until Kansas Football: Video Game All-Stars - Andrew Parchment

43 Days Until Kansas Football: Video Game All-Stars – Andrew Parchment

Posted on July 22, 2022

The return of the NCAA Football video game is scheduled for next summer, and that gives us the perfect opportunity to highlight some players that didn’t get an opportunity to appear in the series during it’s hiatus.

WRAP-LEFT | NUMBERED

Thanks to a rating system that includes individualized ratings of college players that we discussed on the Rock Chalk Podcast, we are able to take correct that oversight. This rating combines their base talent level with their actual college production to come up with an overall look at their performance.

A reminder that our Video Game All-Stars series will look at recent Kansas players who played well at Kansas but never got an opportunity to be captured with a virtual version of themselves. We will look back at their careers, and include a projection of what their overall rating would have been had the games been around.

Today we jump over to our first offensive player to highlight the highest rated receiver since the game went away: Andrew Parchment.

Other Player Spotlights in this series:

Daniel Wise
Mike Lee
Joe Dineen

Recruiting Bio

A 6’2″, 190-lb wide receiver out of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Parchment came to the Jayhawks after two years in college, one with the Northern Illinois Huskies and then a year at Iowa Central Community College. He was a 3- star wide receiver both out of high school and as a juco transfer. He was recruited to Kansas by Chip Lindsey and Emmet Jones, and committed over offers from 13 other schools, including Colorado State and Iowa State.

It’s a little strange having a guy on this list that really only had one big season with the Jayhawks, but it was a pretty great season. His best season was obviously 2019, when he was the clear #1 option for Carter Stanley and the offense. But he benefited from big contributions of Stephon Robinson, Daylon Charlot and Kwamie Lassiter that prevented opposing defenses from focusing only on him in coverage.

None of that is to take away from his accomplishments in the slightest. He put together a fantastic season with some big highlights, and likely would have gone into the 2020 version of the video game with a pretty high rating.

Best Game

It’s difficult to pick just a couple games for Parchment, because he had a lot of big moments in that 2019 season. Not making the list is the 3 receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown against Texas in a 50-48 loss in Austin, which was the first game at the helm for offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon. Instead, the two games below get the nod.

September 13, 2019: 48-24 Win over Boston College

Stat line: 8 receptions, 100 yards, 2 touchdowns

In the first real sign of life for a Les Miles team at Kansas, the Jayhawks used a big performance by Parchment to shock Boston College on the road. Parchment was the beneficiary of a couple really good throws by QB Carter Stanley for scores on the final two drives of the half, and the Jayhawks cruised to an easy victory.

October 26, 2019: 37-34 Win over Texas Tech

Stat line: 7 receptions, 109 yards, 1 touchdown

While Parchment didn’t have the most impressive stat line in this game, he still had a big game, including a touchdown to tie the game midway through the 4th quarter and some crucial catches to extend the game-tying drive where Velton Gardner ran for the touchdown. Sure this game is remembered for the wacky ending, but Parchment was a big part of making that possible.

After Kansas

Parchment entered the transfer portal late in the 2020 season, finishing his career in Tallahassee, FL with the Florida State Seminoles during the 2021 season.

He went undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft but signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent.

Video Game Rating

Base Rating: 79
Production Bonus: 10
Total Rating: 89

Andrew Parchment had an up and down career with one REALLY good season, which allowed him to accumulate a lot of production points quickly in the rating system. His speed and route running was very good in his time at Kansas, and I would expect those to be among his highest attributes.

A reminder that our video game ratings are provided by CFB Winning Edge, which is an independent outlet focused on college football analytics that has developed team, player and coach ratings based on a wide range of current and historical data.
